Amazing - the basic tenets of evolutionary biology summed up without the slightest explanation of how things actually change in the biological world.

I'm jealous.

FUCKING DRUMROLL:

I summed up the basic tenets of evolutionary biology with an economy of words that would draw gasps on any other forum, yet there would appear to be a total lack of appreciation.

----

That's a level of utter narcissistic, self-important, self-absorbed and entirely delusional waffle ever seen on here. And that includes everything Notwaytips posts. You've exceeded yourself, Infidel. Bravo. I say, BRAVO.

Can't think of anything to eat that's popular in England that I've not eaten.

But there's a few drinks I've not drunk - alcopops and ciders with red berries in for a start

I've never eaten lobster or oyster

mate from when I was younger, up until the age of 21 had never eaten anything other than plain english food, never been outside london. Then he met a swedish bird and moved out there to live with her and has never come back. Denounced england as a shithole and has taken on swedish citizenship now. (does wanker sign)

Jesus Infidel manages to bore a thread about food.

people who don't like olives had the big ones shoved up their arses when young while having the oil rubbed over them.

but the shuffle may throw up things from your ancient past that have no similarity to your immediate parents....

so basically something happens that completely disproves this 'theory', and you are able to just say, 'well, it must be related to your ancient past then' so that you can claim the theory is still accurate.

Must be up there with one of the best sentences I've ever read on here FWIW

Trev, I'm not after a barney mate trust me.

Infidel has said it better than I can, although with about 20x the words I'd have ideally chosen to use as usual.

Re: Popular foods you've never eaten that everyone else seemingly has
May I point out that as any evolutionary biologist knows, genetic inheritance is not as simple as some combination of your parents' traits.

In fact genetics is more like a deck of cards being shuffled each time a baby is born, with no real rhyme or reason to why some cards come to the top and others don't.

The 'cards' in this sense are obviously all genes from your lineage going back in time -eg. you can't be born black if you have no black ancestors in your lineage - but the shuffle may throw up things from your ancient past that have no similarity to your immediate parents - red hair, left handedness, a gift for mathematics or even a distaste for olives.

not quite sure what you are are trying to prove mate?

my point being that as soon as seemingly something is proven some other bod comes up with the opposite conclusion. how many times are we told that so and so study has confirmed that drinking a glass of red wine everyday is good for your general health, then to be 'told' that it actually causes cancer. etc. im sure you know exactly what im saying but for some reason fancy a barney, so i will leave you to it.

I guess if we can figure more about how the brain works, why we prefer some thing and don't others, what food people might like that might be easier to provide that is not wasted knowledge to me.

mashed in maryland 12:52 Tue Mar 15
Re: Popular foods you've never eaten that everyone else seemingly has
Well what would you rather, scientists just stop doing stuff once the first general conclusion is reached?

If that was the case we'd still be using leaches to treat the common cold.

That's generally how science/research works.

The older I've got the LESS I like the taste of lager.

And NO I'm not gonna start drinking real fucking ale.

Absolutely no bigger sign of being a pompous old cunt.
